South Country Health Alliance (SCHA) honored Brown County Human Services Director Tom Henderson with the 2017 Diamond Award at the health plan’s annual dinner and presentation held at the Association of Minnesota Counties Conference in Saint Cloud.
The Diamond Award is given for exemplary leadership, passion and commitment to upholding SCHA’s values of collaboration, stewardship, communication and excellence.
As Human Services Director in Brown County, Henderson was actively involved in planning and implementing SCHA as Minnesota’s first multi-county county-based purchasing (CBP) health plan in the late 1990s.
“Tom is part of South Country Health Alliance’s legacy,” said SCHA CEO Leota Lind. “He has provided leadership working closely with other county representatives, together developing new programs and services that meet the needs of our members. Tom continues to be a strong advocate for South Country Health Alliance and the county-based purchasing model.”
During his involvement with SCHA, Henderson has served on several of the health plan’s county advisory committees, including the Health Outcomes Committee, Service Enhancement Committee and Utilization Management Committee.
Most recently, Henderson served as chair of the Healthy Pathways Committee, helping to develop and implement SCHA’s unique program that prevents mental health deterioration through early intervention of services.
