Compliance

Health care is one of the most highly regulated industries in the United States. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is the enforcing agency for health care fraud and abuse and has addressed the benefits of having an effective compliance program.

First and foremost, an effective compliance program safeguards South Country’s legal responsibility to abide by applicable laws and regulations. Second, an effective compliance program reduces our exposure to civil damages and penalties, criminal sanctions, and administrative remedies, such as program exclusion.

South Country believes that an effective compliance program must be an ongoing process, a part of the fabric of the organization, a commitment to an ethical way of conducting business, and a system for doing the right thing.
