Getting Care During a Disaster
If the Minnesota Governor, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, or President of the United States declares a state of disaster or emergency in your geographic area, you are still entitled to care. During a declared disaster, South Country Health Alliance will allow you to get care from out-of-network providers at no cost to you. We will cover your Medicare Parts A and B services and supplemental Part C benefits by an out-of-network provider and your cost-sharing requirements will not change. We will waive requirements for referrals where applicable. South Country Health Alliance can make changes that benefit the member without the 30-day notification.
If you cannot use a network pharmacy during a declared disaster, you will be able to fill your prescription drugs at an out-of-network pharmacy. See your Member Handbook for more information.
These special terms will be effective until the Minnesota Governor, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, President of the United States, or the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid declare an end to the public health emergency or state of disaster or after 30 days have elapsed since the initial declaration.
